HIV Cohorts and DatabasesA Source for InformationCohorts and databases are a significant source of data for clinical research and have become a valuable tool in the HIV setting. Many of the Forum’s recent projects have highlighted the importance of cohorts and databases, including their role in monitoring long terms toxicities; assessing the risk of cardiovascular disease; investigating the clinical significance of HIV drug resistance; analyzing sex and gender, or race and ethnicity effects to name but a few. Through these projects it has become clear that a great many cohorts and databases exist, that these are quite diverse and that it would be helpful to investigators and agencies alike to have ready access to an information source listing a brief description of each cohort.
