Background:As part of a series of meetings on maximizing opportunities for HIV diagnosis and prevention, a roundtable discussion of metrics and evaluation measures for monitoring the implementation of routine HIV Testing in the U.S. was convened April 23rd, 2009. The roundtable follows discussion that took place at the November 2008 National Summit on HIV Diagnosis, Prevention and Access to Care (2008 HIV Summit ) and brought together a panel to discuss the metrics needed to assess expansion of HIV testing and efforts to link individuals to care since the 2006 CDC recommendations for HIV testing for adults, adolescents and pregnant women in health-care settings. Objectives:The second research discussion of this series (which began in April 2008 with the "HIV Testing Policies and Models of Implementation of Routine HIV Testing " roundtable) focused on metrics and evaluation related to routine testing programs. The objectives for this roundtable were:
A report summarizing the meeting and recommended metrics will be generated from the discussion. Status:The roundtable was held April 23, 2009 at the Hyatt Regency Crystal City, Arlington, VA.
