Veronica Miller, PhD, Executive Director
Dr. Veronica Miller is the Director of the Forum for Collaborative HIV Research at the Department of Prevention and Community Health and Associate Research Professor of Epidemiology and Biostatistics at the George Washington University School of Public Health. She joined the Forum after having directed the interdisciplinary HIV Research Group at the HIV-1 Outpatient Clinic of the JW Goethe University in Frankfurt. Dr. Miller has carried out research on HIV treatment strategies, focusing on immunological and virological impact of antiretroviral treatment protocols. One major area of interest is viral drug resistance, and much of the work has focused on the characterization of treatment failure. Dr. Miller was a co-founder of and chaired the Euro Guidelines Group on HIV Drug Resistance, the first pan-European group established for the purpose of assuring a common standard-of-care for patients in all European states. In addition, she has been an active member of various European collaborative projects, including the EuroSIDA study. She obtained her PhD in Immunology at the University of Manitoba, Canada.

Jur Strobos, MD, JD, Deputy Director
Jur Strobos, MD, JD, is the Deputy Director for the Forum for Collaborative HIV Research. Dr. Strobos brings to the Forum more than 30 years of experience in patient care, clinical research, and international drug regulation. His areas of expertise include pharmaceutical law, clinical trial design, and good manufacturing practices. Before joining the Forum, Dr. Strobos served as a Consultant to the pharmaceutical industry and has also served as the Vice President of Clinical Research and Regulatory Affairs for three pharmaceutical firms. From 1990 to 1995, Dr. Strobos served as Director of the Policy Research Staff in the Office of the Commissioner of the US Food and Drug Administration. He received his medical degree from the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine in 1978 and his law degree from the University of Pennsylvania Law School in 1986.

Nina Mani, PhD, MPH, Senior Research Scientist
Nina Mani is the Program Manager for the Hepatitis C Virus Drug Development Advisory Group (HCV DRAG). While completing her scientific training, she interned as a Christine Mirzayan Science & Technology Policy Graduate Fellow at the National Academies where she developed an interest in public health and policy. After completing her degree she worked for the National Cancer Policy Board where she conducted preliminary planning, organization and research on the role of federal agencies in cancer drug development. She has volunteered at the Whitman Walker Clinics' Department of Quality Improvement where she was involved with developing uniform clinic-wide standards of care in their medical and dental units to monitor and track health indicators and outcomes as part of monitoring and evaluation. She received her graduate training in neurobiology from the George Washington University and has published in the field of developmental neurobiology. Her public health degree and certification were also obtained from the George Washington University.

Benjamin Hauschild, MPH, Senior Research Associate
Ben Hauschild is a Senior Research Associate at the Forum for Collaborative Research. Before beginning with the Forum, he worked in the Prevention Program in the Louisiana Office of Public Health-HIV/AIDS Program. In Louisiana, he served as the health department co-chair of the state's HIV Prevention Community Planning Group. He has also worked as a laboratory research technician in the areas of physiology and cell biology at the Louisiana State University Medical Center, the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases at NIH, and Tulane University Medical Center. Mr. Hauschild received a BS from the University of New Orleans in 1998 and an MPH in epidemiology from the Tulane University School of Public Health in 2002.

Amy E. Mangieri, MPH, Research Assistant
Amy Mangieri is a Research Assistant for the Forum for Collaborative HIV Research (FCHR). Ms. Mangieri completed her undergraduate studies in 2007 at the University of Michigan where she received her B.A. degree in Comparative Literature and Cultural Anthropology. In December 2009, she completed her Master of Public Health degree in Health Promotion at the George Washington University, School of Public Health and Health Services. While a graduate student, Ms. Mangieri interned at the Office of International Medicine Programs at the George Washington University Medical Center and with International Medical Corps. She assists the Forum with various projects related to prevention and treatment.
